I was holding out on you when I showed you my latest thrifty finds.
I thought Buddy deserved his own post.
It says his name is Buddy.
I didn't find him at a thrift store though, I found him at a little vintage shop not far from here.
One look at him and I knew I had to rescue him and give him a forever home.
Just look at that face!!!
You know, I started collecting china dogs as a homage to my grandmother. She collected them way back in the day and when she died the collection went to my mother.
And then eventually, part of the pack came to live at my home.
Since then, I have been adding to the collection as a fun way to sort of connect with my grandmother across the years.
But I think I can say that it is no longer just an homage. The little guys have grown on me and I think now it's a full blown love affair in its own right. Bordering on addiction.
Either way. Love affair or addiction. China dogs are in my blood and I think they're here to stay.
Do you have any familial (is that a real word?) collections?
Ceekay-THINKIN of HOME
I do not have a collections of involving animals.....but if I did, it would be sheep. I love the idea that God is our Shepherd and we are His sheep. But doggies....they are precious also. I would have a collection of breathing ones if my hubs would let me.....but Bentley Boy is my only one!
I love him! We are a family of collectors so there are many being passed down and will be many in the years to follow. I promised my sons I wouldn't leave them with my vintage linens! LOL
Buddy sure is cute, glad he has found a forever home with you.
Buddy is quite the pup. LOVE him. It's great he got added to your collection.

Love that face. I especially love the story behind your special collection. I have so many collections, I don't even know where to start. Hugs!
Something Nice and Pretty
What a great find, he is so cute love his name that is on there!
I am sure Buddy is very happy to be in a home that loves him so much.
It is a wonderful hobby and an adorable hobby. Blessings dear. Catherine xo
Hi Pam, everyone should have a hobby of sorts. I'm just stopping by to say how delightful your blog is. Thanks so much for sharing. I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I'll stop on over!
Buddy is very sweet. I can see why you brought him home.
So sweet! We have a very large collection of those Bluebirds of Happiness that you see on blogs. http://www.pinterest.com/dfh52557/blue-bird-of-happiness-cardinal-of-love-pink-bird-/ We had a few, then we found them all over the MIL's house when we cleaned it out, then we took the ones that my Grandmother had collected and now we have the ones that my husband's Grandmother collected. They are at most every yard sale around here, so we are super picky about the ones we add to the collection. We are hovering at near 100!
OMG, I have a Bluebird Of Happiness and never even knew it. The poor guy is just sitting here all by himself. I'll have to get him some more friends.

That is so cute---what a great find! I love that it holds doggie bones 🙂

Of course you had to adopt him...I understand. Buddy is beautiful!
I would definitely have to say that my love of vintage Christmas ornaments comes from my grandmother. I have quite a few of hers that I put on my tree every year. When I was younger and not so into the vintage, they would still go up alongside my World Market and Target ornaments. Then I decided to just go whole hog and completely get into the vintage Christmas. I'd say that's a really good familial collection 🙂
Buddy is sweet! He found the perfect home with you.
We would love to see more of your collection! Please share pics!
My family collection heritage is dolls...beginning with my grandmother who passed them to my mother who passed them on to all the kids and grandchildren. I am drawn almost involuntarily to those things that my grandmothers cherished. I think that is why I blog...to meet others who feel the same as I do about what is important in life.
Ahhhhh Pam this is really sweet. Love your rescued Buddy. He does have a sweet face.
My Forever Changing Home
Love Buddy! He is so cute. Don't you just love when you find treasures like this!
I love Buddy!! He would fit right in with my collection that I have!
Buddy is wonderful! I completely share your addiction. So much so that I've turned it into my business. Please visit me at A Dog's Tale Collectibles. "Rescuing" antique and vintage dogs, and seeing that they are well-placed in their next homes, and in someone's heart is so gratifying. Just as with a real "flesh and fur" rescue, sometimes it is really difficult to let them go! Would love to talk, if you have the time...
All my best,
