DIY Garden Projects On A Budget

Published by Pam Kessler | 600 words. · About 3 minutes to read this article. - 5 Comments

Today our Thrift Store Decor Team is putting on our gardening gloves, picking up a trowel or two and going outside to show you our best DIY Garden Projects.

Which, if you have been here for more than 3 minutes will realize, are all super budget-friendly.

Some are repurposed and upcycled garden decor, some are dollar store crafts and some are just regular old quick & easy DIY projects.

Did I mention there are over 150 of them!!!

I'll highlight a few of the gardening projects I am particularly fond of. The rest of the 150+ will be listed down toward the bottom where you see a bunch of squares.

My 3 Favorite Garden DIYs From House Of Hawthornes:

Normally on Thrift Store Decor days I'm making over some treasure I found at the thrift store. But you may not know that I also have quite a bit of gardening tutorials, tips and projects on my blog.

And I just recently organized my Gardening Tutorials & Ideas page to make easier to find everything.

Lots of fun stuff there, but I'll show you my 3 personal favorites here.

If you have a garden or flower beds, you probably have squirrels and chipmunks bugging the heck out of you. I have a remedy for those pesky critters.

Bowling alleys and thrift stores are full of old bowling balls. Go grab you a couple and make some fun art for your yard or garden.

Hypertufa is a special way to make concrete planters that makes them light as a feather (OK, I'm exaggerating, but they are so much lighter than typical concrete pots). You can either make them rustic like I did or smooth and fancy if you prefer.

Christy at Our Southern Home's DIY Beverage Station is a quick & easy project! It keeps all your drink items in one spot on the patio and would be easy enough to move around when not in use.

This coffee can turned vase/planter by Kathy from Petticoat Junktion is a very inexpensive (and cute) way to add another planter to your gardening arsenal this year. Who doesn't have a can sitting in their recycling bin!

Raised garden beds allow you to contain your garden without tons of weeds and pest creeping in, eliminates the need for tilling and generally make for a neater looking garden. Maryann from Domestically Speaking shows us how to make cedar raised beds the easy way.

Who can't use a potting bench in the spring? Sarah from Sadie Seasongoods has made a portable version that just folds up when you're not using it and tucks neatly away.

Gail from My Repurposed Life is the Queen Of Making Benches. QOMB for short. This time she made a bench out of two old chairs! Now that's what I call thrifty!

I got a few good tips here today. I hate to tell you but I do feed the squirrels out back. lol-it's fun to watch them scramble up and grab corn off the cob. One is very cheeky and scolds us when we open the door while he/she is eating. lol. Great post, Pam. xo Diana

Have you seen the tiny picnic tables you can attach to a tree and then the squirrels can sit there and munch on an ear of corn? So cute and I almost bought one the other day, then thought why am I going to entice them?

I love watching my squirrels eat and play..Just bought a big bag of unsalted peanuts for them..I always leave some birdseed on the ground for them too,,, If I feed them it keeps them from jumping on my bird feeders and breaking them!

Not to change the subject at hand, but have I ever told you how often I have made your soft oatmeal cookies ?! I do add some cranberries and chopped nuts and a few chocolate chips sometimes also. Everyone I give these cookies to, LOVE them ! ♥︎ Bev
